Sunday, April 4 was the forty-second anniversary of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. The 39 year old civil rights leader and Nobel Peace Prize winner was shot with a high powered rifle by assassin James Earl Ray on April 4th, 1968 as he stood on the balcony of the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee. King had just made the “I’ve Been to The Mountaintop” speech the night before at the world headquarters of the Church of God in Christ.
